To fill the void left with no Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie in reality TV, E! will bring on Kim Kardashian.
Who is she? The daughter of attorney Robert Kardashian and the stepdaughter of Bruce Jenner. E! calls the show a "non-scripted family sitcom." The show comes from Ryan Seacrest Productions and Bunim-Murray Productions (the people behind "The Real World" and "The Simple Life").
E! describes Kim as "a successful entrepreneur, model and actress." Would you know her if you ran into her?
What can you expect from the show? Strangely spelled names, for a start.
Here’s how E! described the show: "The series features pop-culture princess Kim Kardashian (26) and her two fiercely competitive (and hormonal) sisters Kourtney (28) and Khloe (23). … Adding to this clan are their two highly impressionable coming-of-age half-sisters Kendall (11) and Kylie (9), their firecracker mom Kris, who doubles as Kim’s stressed-out manager — and in the midest of all this hormonal chaos — their quiet, conservative step-dad, Bruce."
All this attention on hormones. I find that rather offensive.
"American Idol" host Seacrest put a hopeful spin on the show: "At the heart of this series — despite the cat fights and endless sarcasm — is a family that truly loves and supports one another."
I’m predicting we’ll see more cat fights than love.
Goodbye, Paris. Farewell, Nicole. "The Simple Life" is so yesterday.
